We need to connect the dots between what happens to our heart and what happens to our health.

Relationships
matter
In 1938, Harvard began what is now the world’s longest running study on adult development. They wanted to track people throughout their lives to see what leads to health and happiness.
After over eight decades of intensive study, they found that the single biggest factor in our health is not wealth, fame, achievement, genes, smoking, drinking or cholesterol.
It’s the quality of our relationships.
High quality relationships keep us happier and healthier. They cause us to live longer lives and even fight off dementia. On the flip side, the study found that loneliness and toxic relationships literally kill, causing us to decline earlier and die younger.
Good relationships = Happy and Satisfied
Bad relationships = Unhappy and Dissatisfied
Those who feel lonely or lack good relationships face a higher risk of:
Cancer1
Mental Illness3
Suicide5
Heart Disease2
Stroke4
Dementia6
*Loneliness in a relationship is like smoking 15 cigarettes a day
If you want good health, you need good relationships

I’m Shamanie Thompson, wife, mother, and cancer survivor. I have been given the honor to carry on my late father’s work — work that repairs relationships, saves marriages, and heals the wounded and brokenhearted both physically and emotionally.
In addition to running a functional medicine clinic with my husband, with three locations in the Twin Cities, I offer 1-1 consulting, workshops and retreats to help people learn and apply Love Intelligence for thriving relationships and better health. For more on how love healed me, I invite you to read my cancer and relationship stories.
My father, the late Dr. Denny Thompson, was a holistic physician and the author of the “Ayurvedic Zone Diet,” 12 Ways of Love, Yoga of Relationships, Relationship Medicine: Designing Nurturing Relationships in the Healing of Cancer, Heart Disease and Other Chronic Illness. He developed Love Intelligence out of his work counseling couples in his practice and refined it over 15 years into the work I now joyfully continue. Here’s more about Love Intelligence and how he developed it.
